Climbing Routes
Zushi Ridge, due to its elevation, features three distinct plant ecological zones from bottom to top: the bamboo forest zone, the forest zone composed of pine and fir trees, and the shrubbery zone. Therefore, during the ascent, climbers will successively experience the elegant charm of the bamboo groves covering the mountainsides, the stern and verdant beauty of the steep slopes lined with pine and fir trees, and the towering crags accentuated by shrubs.
There are numerous routes leading to Zushi Ridge, and different seasons offer the opportunity to choose varied paths to appreciate the unique allure of Zushi Ridge.
In spring, the Chahua Stream route is a delightful choice. Along the way, one can first admire the waterfalls, streams, and picturesque scenery of Chahua Stream before venturing into the mountains to witness a riot of colors in full bloom. Especially the azaleas that blanket the mountainsides are so beautiful and vibrant!
For summer, the Yuyuan Village route is the most suitable. Along this path, the gentle murmur of streams accompanies travelers, and they can also behold the famous Longzhuyan Waterfall. The mountain spring water here is exceptionally sweet, serving as the daily drinking water for villagers, which is sourced from the mountains, collected in reservoirs, and then piped into the village and households. The Longjuya Water Village in the area offers water parks, farm stays, karaoke, barbecues, and other activities, making it an ideal destination for summer recreation.
When ascending Zushi Ridge in autumn, the Hongshuiping route is the best option. The Zushi Ridge in autumn is crisp and refreshing, with distinct layers of color from bottom to top. Without the obstruction of leaves, the rugged beauty of the landscape is more pronounced. The characteristic of the Hongshuiping route is that most of the journey lies along the ridge of Zushi Ridge, allowing climbers to not only savor the mixed hues of green, red, and yellow in the shrubbery zone but also to enjoy panoramic views of the mountains on both sides.
For winter snowscapes on Zushi Ridge, the Sanjian Village route is the way to go. Walking or driving up from the main road near the former Sanjian Township Government, one can behold the enchanting sight of snow-covered landscapes and trees adorned in silver. It offers a unique charm! After snowfall, some slopes may become slippery, so if driving, it is advisable to choose a vehicle with four-wheel drive.
