Zushi Stele

It is said that during the Dachu era of the Han Dynasty, a colossal boulder descended upon Shenlong Ridge (Divine Dragon Ridge), resembling the Buddha with occasional divine radiance flickering around it. Devout believers then carved a stone Buddha at the mouth of the Divine Dragon and offered incense and prayers, establishing memorial tablets for universal blessings. This deity was later revered as the Patriarch, giving Shenlong Ridge its current name, Zushi Ridge (Patriarch Ridge).

During the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty, local believers donated one hundred taels of silver to construct a wooden hall at the Dragon¡¯s Neck.

In the second year of the Xuantong era (1910), Wen Zhuowu, a ninety-year-old elder, spearheaded a restoration effort.

In 1943 (the 32nd year of the Republic of China era), local gentry Wen Huizhang and abbot Zhou Mingxing oversaw another renovation.

In 1995 AD, Zushi Ridge was designated a provincial-level scenic area. The Party and government leaders of Sanjian Township resolved to rebuild it, with financial support from the Lengshuijiang Municipal Government, backing from the Tourism Bureau, and leadership by Liu Zhiyuan, Wen Zairen, and others in constructing the Second Hall of the Patriarch Sage Emperor. Given the immense scale of the project, materials were transported by porters and horses amid challenging terrain and economic constraints. Success was achieved solely through generous donations from devout believers across regions. Additionally, the dedicated efforts of the planning staff, who worked tirelessly without seeking compensation, ensured the grand project¡¯s completion. Their virtue and contributions shall forever illuminate future generations.
