Homestead
Guangjia Hall, the former residence of Cai Hesen, is located in Yangqiu Village, Jingzi Town, Shuangfeng County, Hunan Province. Built in the late Qing Dynasty, it is a brick-and-wood structure with a total area of over 550 square meters, serving as the former residence of Comrades Cai Hesen and Cai Chang. On May 14, 1900, Cai Chang, an outstanding leader of China's women's movement, was born here and spent over eight years of her childhood with her brother Cai Hesen. In 1985, a golden-lettered redwood plaque inscribed with "Former Residence of Cai Hesen" by Deng Xiaoping was hung on the gate of the residence. In 2011, it was designated as the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units by the Hunan Provincial Government.

In 1899, Cai Rongfeng, Cai Hesen's father, returned from Shanghai and purchased a house nearby¡ªGuangjia Hall. On May 14, 1900, Cai Chang was born here, and the siblings spent over eight years of their childhood here. The former residence is a late Qing Dynasty building with a brick-and-wood structure and a total area of over 550 square meters. Nestled on a small slope, the house is surrounded by lush green trees. In front of the door lie two ponds, where banana plants play with the water and melon vines thrive, creating a fresh and picturesque scenery. Stepping into the former residence, one senses that although the people are gone, the place once nurtured a determined youth. The vivid figure seems to still leap around the house. It was here that the dream of saving the nation and its people was sown, sprouted, and steadily extended outward. During the period of living in Guangjia Hall, Comrade Cai Hesen's family experienced two consecutive tragedies: his second elder sister, Cai Shunxi, passed away, and shortly after, his eldest brother, Luxian, also died from illness. Consequently, Cai's mother moved the family back to their ancestral home in Yongfeng.
Many of the items displayed in the former residence are original artifacts, including the bed, desk, and wardrobe in the bedroom, the square table and stools in the living room, the large water jar and cupboard in the kitchen, and the stone mill, waterwheel, and large wooden rake in the farm tool room, all of which bear the imprints of Cai Hesen and Cai Chang.
